2011 MAPSA Administrator of the Year

The administration and staff at Crescent Academy are pleased to extend a warm welcome from the home of the Cheetahs. We are so excited about the academic programs, student support services, sports programs, and all of the extra-curricular activities that we have to offer our students and parents. We are committed to providing our students with an educational program that will prepare them to compete in the areas of Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. We firmly believe that rigorous study in these areas will provide our students with the competitive edge needed to attend the premier colleges and universities within the United States and abroad; thus, enabling many of our students to obtain successful and rewarding careers.

Crescent Academy is staffed with highly-qualified teachers who are dedicated to education and will go the extra-mile to help all of their students. Students at Crescent Academy are given the necessary support and tools to excel. After school tutoring and summer school are examples of our academic programs that are offered to our students to ensure their success at Crescent Academy and in the future. High academic expectations for all students are paramount at Crescent Academy. The mission of the academy is to inspire a community of learners using multiple resources to prepare students to excel and evolve academically, socially, and emotionally in a global society.

We are very proud of the safe school environment that we offer our students and parents. Every student at Crescent Academy is accountable for his or her behavior and actions. We firmly believe that learning can not take place until there are orderly classroom environments that are free of violence and disrespect. We pride ourselves on a strong no-nonsense discipline program which allows learning to take place in our classrooms on a daily basis. School should reflect a caring community: a safe and fair environment in which the school staff, with the support of parents, guides the children toward respecting others, understanding the varied cultures of our society and striving for academic and behavioral excellence.

Our Primary Goals Are:

1. To develop and provide each student opportunities to become critical-thinkers.
2. To help students develop habits of the mind that will enable them to assume responsibility for their own life-long continued learning and instill in students the value and worth of their own educational futures.
3. To use literacy as a powerful tool for reasoning and communicating.
4. To use technology as a tool to enhance learning.

It will take the cooperation and collaboration of all stakeholders (i.e., administrators, teachers, students, parents, and the community) to achieve these goals.
