GRADES K – 5

 

  • Houghton Mifflin Harcourt: Journeys Reading Program:

Journeys is a research-based English Language Arts program with proven results. Focused, comprehensive instruction helps to engage and meet the needs of all learners, ensuring that every reader is empowered, inspired and confident. All instruction is tied together by an anchor text—authentic, complex text that anchors all instruction. These are the texts that teachers love to teach and inspire students to love to read. The Leveled Readers offer multiple titles in a variety of genres at each level. Precisely leveled texts and lesson plans build reading success while also building confident readers.  YouTube description:

 

  • EngageNY Mathematics Units and Guides:

As part of “Race to the Top” federal funding, the New York State Education Department worked with various partners to develop curriculum materials for grades K – 4 in Mathematics, and these materials are available for download from EngageNY. These materials are used as a supplement to our instruction in order to pace out our lessons.

 

  • Mystery Science: Mystery Science is a web-based curriculum and instruction program that is aligned to the Michigan Next Generation Science Standards. Every lesson begins with a Mystery that hooks students to want to learn more. The teacher then narrates an unforgettable story with videos for opportunities for class and group discussion.  Every lesson includes a hand-on activity designed to use supplies teacher have in their classroom (or are easy to get).

 

  • Michigan Department of Education Open Source Social Studies:

This is a Michigan aligned Social Studies curriculum provided by MDE to support history instruction in grades K – 4.  The topics students will cover span from learning about ones community to understanding the state of Michigan.  Students will engage in a variety of discussions, individual and group projects in order to be prepared for college, career and civic life (C3 Framework).

 

GRADES 6 – 8 

 

  • i-READY Reading (Primary Source):

Adaptive Individualized instruction in Reading where the teacher tailors the instruction to students specific needs through the i-READY program in order to support students reading growth.

  • FOSS Science Printed Materials for Grades 6-8:

FOSS Next Generation engages middle school students with meaningful active learning experiences,

prepares all students to succeed with the NGSS performance expectations, integrates robust reading and literacy strategies to support the Common Core ELA, and utilizes technology to deliver learning experiences..
